About Us
Blomberg Industries is a diverse Canadian construction contractor that specializes in industrial, commercial, and residential construction.
The construction of shipping container structures is something Blomberg has defined through the years. We have built mechanic shops, assay laboratories, crusher platforms, warehouses, and remote camp additions out of shipping containers. Our methods were all developed in house by our expert team of builders and lead to expedient build times with a lower cost than traditional carpentry.
During our time in Nunavut, we found creative ways to reuse and integrate shipping containers into engineered builds. This minimizes construction costs, speeds up build times and reduces waste and carbon footprints. Once erected, roof and truss systems were built and installed atop the structures, the buildings are strapped, spray foamed with insulation, and cladded with metal siding. This creates aesthetically-pleasing, weather-tight structures that can be used for a variety of applications.
Construction of the Assay Laboratory exemplifies our ability to coordinate with various trades and the client when a job with meticulous conditions need to be met. We carried out the build from start to finish, utilizing our skilled operators, carpenters, and and other tradespeople to meet our deadline. The lead metallurgist on site regularly viewed the progress and we made necessary adaptations to suit the specific requirements for the advanced field laboratory. The lab was constructed on a tight timeline as the processing plant required accurate sampling at the time of commissioning. This project was completed without any incidents.
During the construction of our container structures Blomberg Industries was responsible for assisting with engineering and design, procurement, construction, and management. We preformed all tasks from the initial earthworks, and placement of shipping containers to the truss fabrication and roofing. Our spray foam professionals insulated every building with an R-value of 30 (5.28-RSI) creating a warm and comfortable environment in the Arctic’s -40(C) weather. Due to the robust construction of shipping containers the interiors can be left unfinished to save on cost when visual aesthetic isn’t a priority. Drywalling, flooring and finishing can all be complete to turn your container structure into a fine finished area.
